Styling Tips
Drying / Styling Control
When blow drying your hair, comb your fingers through your hair to get the majority of the moisture out. When your hair is nearly dry, switch to a brush for styling control.
For faster drying, blow dry your hair with a vent brush. The holes in the brush allow air to flow through your hair drying it faster.
For fine hair, use the low heat setting and the low air flow setting on your hair dryer to dry your hair faster with more control.
For precision styling, use the concentrator attachment on the nozzle of your hair dryer. By forcing the air through a smaller area, the air comes out at a higher velocity and therefore, allows you more control over your styling.
For more volume, tip your head down and flip your hair over to dry from the roots.
Curling
When using a curling iron, working with smaller sections of hair will product tighter curls and working with larger sections of hair will produce softer waves.
Always use the lowest heat setting on thermal irons that will get the job done on your hair. Lower heat settings will be less damaging to your hair.
To create spiral curls, hold a 1” flat iron vertically and wrap the hair around the iron like a candlestick. The heat from the plates will radiate to the outside housing just enough to evenly curl the hair.
Straightening
When straightening your hair, divide your hair into thin sections to flatten faster and ensure the hair is smooth. For flatter ironed looks, apply a thermal styling spray to the hair prior to using the flat iron.
A large barrel curling iron, such as a 1-1/4” or 1-1/2”, is a great tool to use when straightening hair. Be sure to apply pressure as you smooth the iron through your hair.
To further protect fine hair from the damaging effects of heat, use a thermal protectant spray.
