Brea
Retic

In 2009, life threw Brea a curve ball, and she was forced to make a career change. She needed a field where she could enjoy financial independence, the flexibility to spend quality time with her son, and a better quality of life. So she moved from Indianapolis, Indiana to Atlanta, Georgia, to attend barbering school.

That bold move was the first step in her career as a barber and she hasn’t looked back since. Brea currently resides in Atlanta where she owns Brea J Cuts Studio and she’s also part of the Salon Centric It Takes a Pro Team.

Passionate about helping others, Brea volunteers with A Different Cut, helping to bring awareness to barbers on how to service children and young adults on the spectrum, providing haircuts in a thoughtful, sensory-sensitive environment.

That passion for helping includes educating others within the industry. “I want to teach people things that I was not necessarily able to learn in school, such as different techniques. I want to serve others and help them develop their craft, be a light unto my peers, and give hope to people who look like me and come from where I come from - being a mom, being a black woman. I just want to encourage people and let them know they can do anything they put their minds to.”
